DUSHANBE, February 5, 2009, Asia-Plus — On Wednesday February 4, President Emomali Rahmon attended extraordinary summits of the Eurasian Economic Community (EAEC) and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in Moscow.
According to presidential press service, the summits focused on issues related to collective measures to overcome the global financial crisis and provide regional security.
On sidelines of the EAUC and CSTO summits, President Rahmon yesterday held talks with his Russian counterpart, President Dmitry Medvedev.
They discussed a broad range of issues related to bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the Russian Federation in the different fields. Rahmon and Medvedev paid a special attention to acceleration of cooperation in the economic sphere, especially construction of infrastructural facilities, including the Roghun HPS and other hydropower facilities, the press service said.
The presidents also discussed state and prospects of further expansion of military and military-technical cooperation between the two countries.
They agreed that President Rahmon would pay a working visit to Russia in the second half of this month. Medvedev also invited Rahmon to pay a state visit to Russia this year.
