DUSHANBE, February 5, 2009, Asia-Plus  — The Swiss Cooperation Office in Tajikistan noted that the Consulate General of Switzerland in Almaty would be dealing with visa issuance until February 25, 2009 only.

Within the interim period from February 26, 2009 till March 6, 2009 the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Astana will be in charge of visa issuance to Switzerland.

The new Embassy of Switzerland in Astana, in charge of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan will start its work from March 10, 2009 onwards (March 9 is a public holiday) and be responsible for visa issuance.

Switzerland entered the Schengen space as of December 15, 2008.  During the transition period from December 16, 2008 to February 25, 2009, all applications by Tajikistan citizens for Schengen visa have been dealt with by the Consulate General of Switzerland in Almaty.  The Consular Agency of Switzerland in Dushanbe stopped issuing visa for entering Switzerland on December 15, 2008.
