DUSHANBE, February 5, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Chairman of the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament) also Dushanbe Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev yesterday met here with Iran’s Minister of Commerce Masoud Mirkazemi.

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Shavkat Saidov, an aide to the upper house speaker, said that Ubaidulloyev had expressed confidence that visit of minister of the friendly country would give a new impulse to further expansion of economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Iran.

In connection with the ongoing global financial crisis, Ubaidulloyev suggested that Tajikistan and Iran should develop joint economic projects and effectively use potential of parliamentarians of the two countries to promote further expansion of bilateral cooperation.

For his part, Iranian minister expressed readiness of his country to actively participate in different investment projects in Tajikistan in the future as well, the aide said.

At the end of the meeting, Mr. Mirkazemi invited Ubaidulloyev on behalf of Iranian parliament to pay visit to Iran.
