DUSHANBE, February 5, 2009, Asia-Plus  — In 2008, Tajikistan’s population increased from 7.064 million to 7.298 million, according to the CIS Interstate Committee for Statistics.

In the meantime, a total population of the CIS increased by 1 million last year and as of January 1, 2009, the CIS population stood at 281 million.

Over the report period, Azerbaijan’s population increased from 8.63 million to 8.73 million, Armenian’s population from 3.23 million to 3.238 million, Kyrgyzstan’s population from 5.224 million to 5.26 million.  Kazakhstan’s population last year increased from 15.572 million to 15.766 and Uzbekistan’s population increased from 27.072 million to 27.4 million.
