DUSHANBE, February 23, 2009, Asia-Plus — Two new buildings at secondary schools ## 21 and 41 in the villages of Kovuntepp and Komsomol in Khatlon’s Bokhtar district opened their doors to pupils on February 20, according to National Social Investment Fund of Tajikistan (NSIFT).
The projects were implemented within the framework of bilateral financial cooperation between the governments of Tajikistan and Germany under the program for supporting development of basic education in Tajikistan, the source at NSFIT’s head office in Dushanbe said.
The new 200-place buildings have the overall space of some 560 square meters each. NSIFT has provided both schools with coal for the winter period, the source said.
According to the Ministry of Education (MoE), 710 new schools have been built in the country over the years of independence. In 2008 alone, 34 schools were renovated and additional classes to 74 schools were built in the country.
