DUSHANBE, March 5, 2009, Asia-Plus — Two arms caches were discovered in Tajikistan yesterday, according to the Ministry of Interior (MoI).

One of caches, containing one carbine, one sub-machine-gun Kalashnikov, one pistol, three hand grenades F-1 and 860 bullets of different caliber, was discovered in the Varzav area three of the Darvoz district, Gorno Badakhshan.

The other one was discovered in the village of Shahrinav in the Tavildara district, eastern Tajikistan.  One sub-machine-gun Kalashnikov, one carbine, one machine-gun DShK and a number of shells were extracted from the cache, the source said, noting that some 250 firearms have been confiscated from the country’s population since the beginning of the year.
