DUSHANBE, March 6, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Russia’s Abu Hanifa Foundation has welcomed recognition of the Hanafi school of the Islamic jurisprudence as an official religion of Tajikistan, Muhammad Egamzod, the head of the Moscow-based media holding Tajinfo, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

According to him, Chairman of the Spiritual Board of Muslims of Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod Region also Executive Director of Russia’s Abu Hanifa Foundation Damir-hazrat Muhetdinov yesterday released an open letter to Tajikistan’s leadership and nationals.

In his letter, Damir-hazrat Muhetdinov, in particular, noted that this day would go down in history of Tajikistan as well as a 500-million ummah (community)  of followers of the Hanafi school (mazhab) of the Islamic jurisprudence as a glorious date.

“Hanafi doctrine is dear to us as valuable heritage and comprehension of Islam as religion open to dialogue with science, progress and other religions,”  said the letter, “It lays foundation of future, apprehension of innovations of human mind in al spheres of life – creative will of human being receives blessing, support and correction from above…”
