DUSHANBE, March 6, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Tajik and Uzbek national air carries have reached an agreement on reopening of an air route between Dushanbe and Tashkent, Asia-Plus has learned from Nazira Davlatova, a spokeswoman for Tajik air company, Tajik Air.

According to her, the agreement was reached during negotiations between delegations of Tajik Air and Uzbek air company, Uzbekiston Havo Yullari, in Tashkent on March 4.

“The sides agreed to solve a number of issues and after that an air communication between Dushanbe and Tashkent will resume,” Ms. Davlatova said, noting that the flight Dushanbe-Tashkent is expected to be reopened already this months.

The flights will be operated both by Tajik Air and Uzbekiston Havo Yullari, the spokeswoman said.

We will recall that Uzbekistan closed air communication with Tajikistan in 1992.
