DUSHANBE, March 12, 2009, Asia-Plus — On Thursday March 12, Director of the Drug Control Agency, Lieutenant-General Rustam Nazarov, met with visiting OSCE Senior Police Adviser Kevin Carty.

Kevin Carty heading the OSCE delegation arrived in Dushanbe this week to discuss cooperation issue with Tajik law enforcement authorities.

Colonel Sadullo Rahmatulloyev, a spokesman for the Tajik counternarcotics agency, told Asia-Plus that the sides had discussed issues related to cooperation between the OSCE and the DCA and the OSCE assistance on implementtion of the anti-drug projects in Tajikistan asw ell as cooperation on counternarcotics training for the Afghan police.

In the course of the talks, Tajik drug control chief highly appraised OSCE’s support for implementation of anti-drug projects and acquainted the OSCE representatives with the DCA activities and the present drug situation in the country and the region as a whole.
