DUSHANBE, March 17, 2009, Asia-Plus — Development of energy potential involves solving issues related to future use of energy in domestic market as well as working out and introducing urgent measures to reduce energy consumption inside Tajikistan, the executive director of the Consumers’ Union of Tajikistan, Bahodur Habibov, said.
He, in particular, noted that although the government’s strategic documents reflected priorities of the energy sector, no proper attention was paid to issues of energy supply and energy efficiency.
Habibov considers it necessary to pay a special attention to efficient use of the primary and renewable energy resources.
“Today, the public and various federally funded departments and organizations are throwing away their money, paying for heat losses,” the executive director said, “The lion’s share of power supply is currently used for heating premises by various electrical heaters and precious millions of kWh of electrical power are spent for that.”
He is sure that the necessity of tackling problems of domestic consumers will face further development of the energy sector and formation of Tajikistan as exporter of electrical power. According to him, there are many quite simple technical solutions that allow reducing heating losses in administrative and residential buildings in the country. However, these technical solutions, except for plastic windows, have not yet found application in Tajikistan.
