DUSHANBE, March 28 2009, Asia-Plus  — In a statement delivered at a conference in Dushanbe, Vyacheslav Svetlichny, Chargé D’Affaires of the Russian Embassy in Dushanbe, noted on March 27 that Russia attaches significant importance to cooperation with the Central Asia countries, according to the Russian Embassy in Dushanbe

The conference formally titled “Problems of Security of States in the Middle East under Conditions of the Global Financial Crisis” was held at Russia-Tajik Slavic University (RTSU) in Dushanbe.  It was sponsored by the Russian Embassy.

“We are interested in stability and security in the region and it is important for us that five counties of the region would successfully tackle all political, economic and social problems facing them,” Svetlichny said, adding that Russia would provide assistance for expansion of regional cooperation in Central Asia in the future as well.

“I think Russia’s attitude to cooperation with Central Asia, including Tajikistan, is becoming more and more attentive and solicitous,” Russian diplomat said.  According to him, intensity of political and economic ties of Russia with Central Asia’s states is increasing and strengthening of sovereignty and movement towards intestate integration are becoming key things.
