DUSHANBE, March 30, Asia-Plus –Tajik aluminum group has got quality management system (QMS) certification.
Press release issued by Tajik Aluminum Company (Talco) on March 27 said that the company recently got the quality management system (QMS) certification (QWS, ISO 9001:2008) that will allow it to compete more successfully in the worldwide market.
Talco got the QMS certification after SGS, which is the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company, had audited Tajik aluminum group, press release said.
Recognized as the global benchmark for quality and integrity, SGS employs over 55,000 people and operates a network of more than 1,000 offices and laboratories around the world.
The SGS director general for Kazakhstan Alexander Vaznyuk noted that the Talco certification would give it more domestic and international business opportunities and allow conducting business in the worldwide market more successfully. The certificate is evidence of the fact that Tajik aluminum giant joins ranks of the most successful companies of the world.
“Talco is the first company in Central Asia to introduce the ISO 9001:2008 certified quality system and is still the only company in Tajikistan that got the QMS certification (QMS, ISO 9001:2008),” Ms. Sayohat Qodirova, a spokeswoman for Talco said, noting that presence of QMS is one of requirements of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
ISO 9001 is one of the standards in the ISO 9000 family of standards for quality management systems. ISO 900 is maintained by ISO, the International Organization for Standardization and is administered by accreditation and certification bodies.
Some of the requirements in ISO 9001 include: a set of procedures that cover all key processes in the business; monitoring processes to ensure they are effective; keeping adequate records; checking output for defects, with appropriate and corrective action where necessary; regularly reviewing individual processes and the quality system itself for effectiveness; and facilitating continual improvement.
A company or organization that has been independently audited and certified to be in conformance with ISO 9001 may publicly state that it is “ISO 9001 certified” or “ISO 9001 registered”. Certification to an ISO 9000 standard does not guarantee any quality of end products and services; rather, it certifies that formalized business processes are being applied.
