DUSHANBE, April 1, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Expansion of economic cooperation within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) was a major topic of a meeting of the head of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Trade (CCI) Sharif Said with the head of the SCO Business Council Dmitry Mezentsev that was held in Dushanbe on March 31.

According to the CCI press service, the sides, in particular, discussed establishment of direct ties and dialogues between business and financial circles of member nations of the Organization as well as issues related to involving them in economic and investment interaction.

Said and Mezentsev also discussed protection of investments, construction of large and small power plants, migration and social protection of the population, improvement of mechanisms of insurance activity as well as cargo shipment and transit issues
