Amonatbonk head, ADB official consider ways to mitigate effects of financial crisis in Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, April 4, 2009, Asia-Plus — On Friday April 3, the head of Amonatbonk (Tajikistan’s savings bank) Mahmadamin Mahmadaminov met with visiting delegation of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) led by Mr. Arne B. Peterson, Adviser, ADB, Amonatbonk’s press service reported.

The ADB delegation has been here since April 1 to hold talks with top managers of a number of banks to discuss role of central and commercial banks in management of financial crisis.

In the course of the talks, the sides discussed issues related to mitigation of effects of the global financial crisis in Tajikistan, as well as the current structural state of Tajikistan’s savings bank.

Mahmadaminov and Peterson also discussed the present situation in Tajikistan’s agrarian, industrial, commercial and some other leading sectors of Tajikistan’s economy.

The ADB specialists in cooperation with representatives of the Tajik government and banks are currently taking measures to mitigate impact of the ongoing global financial crisis on the country’s economy, the press services said.
