DUSHANBE, April 6, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Representatives from the European Union (EU) Troika for the common policy and security policy and Mr. Pierre Morel, EU Special Representative for Central Asia, arrived in Tajikistan today on a three-day visit, according to the MFA information department.

During their stay in Tajikistan, the EU representatives are scheduled to hold talks with Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi, State Adviser to the Tajik President for International Matters Erkin Rahmatulloyev, State Adviser to the Tajik President for Economic Matters Matloubkhon Davlatov, State Adviser to the Tajik President for Legal Policy Zarif Alizoda, as well as senior representative from the State Committee for National Security (GKNB).

The ”Troika” includes top European officials in charge of foreign relations.  Since the Treaty of Amsterdam, the Troïka has brought together the Foreign Affairs Minister of the Member State holding the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the Secretary-General/High Representative for the common foreign and security policy, and the European Commissioner in charge of external relations and European neighborhood policy.
