DUSHANBE, April 6, 2009, Asia-Plus — A specially trained dog of the Sughd counternarcotics directorate has helped find more than one kilogram of heroin in Sughd’s Bobojonghafurov district, according to press service of the Drug Control Agency (DCA).
An operation carried out by the drug control officers in the settlement of Qistaquz, Bobojonghafurov district on April 3 led to the seizure of a large amount of heroin. Local resident M.A. was detained on suspicion of having been involved in drug trafficking. Six wraps with powder-like substance having a specific smell were confiscated from him. The substance was tested positive to hashish weighing 14.4 grams.
“When searching his house, the drug control officers found two packages of narcotic drug that was tested positive to heroin weighing more than one kilogram. The packages were found by the narcotics detection dog Barbie,” the source said.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted and an investigation is under way.
