KHUJAND, April 6, 2009, Asia-Plus  — The Sughd health directorate has applied to the Ministry of Health (MoH) with solicitation to review instructions for physicians working with conscription commissions.

The deputy head of the Sughd health directorate, Numon Homidov, said that under the present instructions, it was permitted to conscript young men having certain illnesses (in all, 20 illnesses are listed).  “They are conscripted as being limitedly fit for military service,” said Homidov, “We propose to exempt such men from serving in the army because army conditions differ from the home ones and illness may become aggravated.”
