DUSHANBE, April 23, 2009, Asia-Plus – A session of the expert group for coordination of the raft protocol to the agreement on cooperation between the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) border troops in the filed of border control at crossings on borders of the CIS states with states that are not members of the Commonwealth will be held in Minsk, Belarus tomorrow, press release issued by the CIS Executive Committee today said.

Singed in 1998, the agreement is aimed at promoting expansion of cooperation in mutually providing national security and stable situation on the CIS states’ borders, preventing illegal migration and contraband.  The document also provides for simplification of the procedure for citizens, vehicles and cargoes of the CIS states to proceed via borders.

The draft protocol to the agreement was approved by the session the council of the CIS border troops commanders that was held in April last year.  The document determines directions of cooperation between authorized bodies in revealing signs of falsification of documents used for proceedings via national borders as well as provides for creation of help-desk system of samples with revealed signs of falsification of documents, press service said.
