KULOB, April 23, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Kulob Mayor Homid Abdulloyev has promised to allot 5 hectares in the suburb farm named after S. Zaripov to the Kulob association of the disabled Chernobyl cleanup workers for organizing farm, the association head Davlatsho Sohibov told Asia-Plus today.

The association unites liquidators (the name given in the former USSR to approximately 800,000 people who were in charge of the removal of the consequences of the April 26, 1986 Chernobyl disaster on the site of the event) living in Kulob.

Sohibov says the farm will allow them providing families of the Chernobyl cleanup workers with wheat, fresh vegetables and potatoes.  “In the Vose district, where local authorities allotted 10 hectares of land to our association, the Chernobyl cleanup workers have had good harvests for already two years,” he said.
