KONIBODOM, April 24, 2009, Asia-Plus — Konibodom authorities are taking measures to employ returning labor migrants.

According to the Konibodom agency for employment, migration and social protection of the population, 1,660 new jobs have been created in the district over the first quarter of this year.

In the meantime, 2,144 labor migrants have returned to Konibodom over the same three-month period.

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, the head of the Konibodom agency for employment, migration and social protection of the population Anvar Mahkamov said that 24,368 residents of Konibodom were currently outside the country seeking better employment opportunities.  “The majority of them (21,900) are working in the Russian Federation, more than 750 Konibodom residents are working in Ukraine, 101 in Kazakhstan and others are working in the far abroad countries,” Mahkamov said.

He noted that the mentioned 1,660 new jobs had been created due to opening of more small enterprises and farming units in the district.

“In all, 2,800 new jobs are expected to be created in Konibodom this year,” said Mahkamov, “Besides; special training will be organized for 130 unemployed this year.”
