DUSHANBE, May 8, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Cellular operator offering telecommunications services in Tajikistan under the trademark of Beeline, limited liability company Tacom, has announced launch of new roaming services for its customers – the cellular operator has singed direct roaming  agreements with Belgian cellular operator, Belgacom Mobile (Proximus), as well as the leading GSM operator in the United States, AT&T Mobility (formerly Singular Wireless), the Tacom roaming manager Firdavs Yoqubov said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

According to him, they have increased the number of direct roaming-partners by 25 percent since the beginning of the year.  “Roaming services are available for all subscribers to prepaid tariff plans and customers using payment credit card system,” Yoqubov said, noting that Beeline’s customers feel themselves like at home in more than 200 countries.

Tacom is licensed to provide cellular communication services in Tajikistan in the GSM-900/1800, UMTS, CDMA-450, and AMPS standards.  VimpelCom, the second largest cell-phone operator in the Russian Federation providing telecommunications services under the Beeline brand, now assumes the 80% ownership interest in Tacom.

The VimpelCom Group consists of telecommunications operators providing voice and data services through a range of wireless, fixed and broadband technologies. The Group includes companies operating in Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Georgia and Armenia as well as Vietnam and Cambodia, in territories with a total population of about 340 million.
