KHUJAND, May 22, 2009, Asia-Plus  — More than two kilograms of heroin were seized in northern Tajikistan yesterday in the course of the anti-drug operation, dubbed Poppy 2009, according to the Sughd counternarcotics directorate.

On May 21, when searching a car at the Shahriston Pass, the drug control officers found 2.6 kilograms of heroin hidden in a bag belonging to female passenger, 26-year-ol woman from Khujand, the source at the Sughd counternarcotics directorate said.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against her and an investigation is under way.
