KHUJAND, May 22, 2009, Asia-Plus – The German Agro Action (GAA) field office in Khujand has completed the project for distribution food to kindergartens in northern Tajikistan, Sergey Kovyrshin, financial administrator, GAA field office in Khujand, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to him, the project costing more than 100,000 euros targeted 31 kindergartens in Jabborrasulov, Ghonchi and Shahriston districts as well as in the city of Istaravshan regarding food distribution.
Launched last year, the project was implemented in two stages, four months each. 212 tons of wheat flour, vegetable oil, sugar, iodized salt and peas have been distributed to the kindergartens that has improved conditions for accepting children. The project has allowed increasing the number of children in these kindergartens from 3,000 to 3,600.
The GAA has also supported rehabilitation of water supplies to the kindergartens to the extent possible. The kindergartens have also been provided with tableware and electric cooking stoves.
