DUSHANBE, May 27, 2009, Asia-Plus  — President Emomali Rahmon is receiving visiting Kazakh Defense Minister Daniyal Akhmedov today morning.

According to presidential press service, state and prospects of further expansion of military-technical cooperation between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan as well as training of military personnel for the Tajik armed forces will be discussed at the meeting.

The same issues were also a major topic of a meeting Daniyal Akhmedov with his Tajik counterpart, Colonel-General Sherali Khairulloyev, that was held in Dushanbe yesterday.  On Tuesday, Kazakh defense minister also visited Tajik Military Institute in Dushanbe.

As it had been reported earlier, Kazakhstan’s Defense Minister Daniyal Akhmedov arrived in Dushanbe on a two-day working visit yesterday morning.  According to Faridoun Mahmadaliyev, a chief spokesman for the Ministry of Defense (MoD), during his stay in Dushanbe, Daniyal Akhmedov is also scheduled to hold talks with Prime Minister Oqil Oqilov and the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament) Chairman Mahmadsaid Ubdaidulloyev.
