DUSHANBE, June 12, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Tajikistan and Switzerland have signed an agreement for promotion and mutual protection of investments.

The agreement was signed in Dushanbe yesterday by Tajik Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi and Swiss Ambassador to Kazakhstan and Tajikistan, Mr. Stephan Nellen

Speaking to reporters following the agreement-signing ceremony, Ambassador Nellen noted that the signed agreement demonstrated that both sides attached significance to further expansion of bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation and strengthening of economic ties, especially in the field of investments.

According to him, the agreement will provide new opportunities for work of entrepreneurs of both countries.

Mr. Nellen noted that small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) were an important component of Switzerland’s economy and the SMEs representatives might get interesting opportunities due to that agreement.  He expressed hope that parliaments of both countries would ratify the document in the near future.
