DUSHANBE, June 17, 2009, Asia-Plus  — A large arms cache has been discovered in the Roudaki district, according to the Ministry of Interior (MoI).

The source at a MoI said the hide was discovered near the village of Tojikobod in the Zaynobod jamaot on June 16.

“Pistol Star-Sal-22 (phonetically spelled, pistol Sat, pistol Makarov, Western type submachine gun with two magazines, carbine Winchester-Cobra, two assault rifles Kalashnikov, hunting gun, 8 hand grenades F-1, three hand grenades RGD-5 and 446 bullets of different caliber were extracted fro the hide,” the source said.

We will recall that an arms cache, containing submachine gun Kalashnikov and 1,133 bullets of different caliber, was discovered at the site for construction of apartment building at the Huvaydulloyev Street in Dushanbe on June 13.

Specialists say that such arms caches are a legacy of the five-year civil war that ended in the country in 1997.
