DUSHANBE, June 25, 2009, Asia-Plus  — The Government of Italy will provide assistance to victims of floods in Dushanbe and Qurghon Teppa, according to the Italian Embassy in Tashkent.

The Government of Italy has decided to provide €100,000 to provide humanitarian aid to the victims, message released by the Embassy said.

The funds will be handed over to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) for supporting the humanitarian aid program.  IFRC will hand over the funds to Tajikistan’s Red Crescent Society (RCS) that will provide humanitarian aid to 726 families in some areas of Dushanbe and Qurghon Teppa that were affected by floods, the source said.
