KHUJAND, June 25, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Today, President Emomali Rahmon is visiting the Zafarobod district as part of his working visit to Sughd province.

In Zafarobod, Rahmon is getting acquainted with activity of local cotton-growing farms.

Today, the president will also visit the Spitamen district, where he will attend opening ceremonies of the domestic service center, Fayz, and the service center at open joint-stock company (OJSC) Sughdagroserv (SAS).

A two-story domestic service center, Fayz, was constructed by local entrepreneur Khairullo Ubaidulloyev.   A total cost of the project is 960,000 somoni.  The center has sewing workshop that has created jobs for more than 50 local women.

SAS’s service center has been established in cooperation with local farming unit, Sharq.  The center will provide farms with seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, spare parts for agricultural machines and equipment, etc.  A total cost of the project is 800,000 somoni.15 people currently work for the center at an average monthly wage of 600-650 somoni.

The agribusiness company Soughdagroserv provides financial, marketing, retail and other services to farmers, manufacturers, and cotton and other agricultural processing firms along the entire chain of the agricultural process. The company operates primarily in rural areas, helping to promote increased income for local farmers by creating opportunities for independent production and commercial farm activity.
