KHUJAND, July 2, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Authorities of Sughd’s Ayni district have applied to the government for permission to relocate 800 local families to the Zafarobod district in Sughd.

According to the Sughd agency for migration, employment and social protection of the population, if the government approves this proposal, they will develop the resettlement plan for the period of 2010-2012.

Ayni authorities have motivated the proposal by shortage of lands in the mountain areas.  According to them, those 800 families have expressed wish to move to the Zafarobod themselves and Zafarobod authorities agree to accept them if quota in land allotment allows and there is government’s consent.

Besides, 308 voluntary families are supposed to be gradually moved within Isfara and Ghonchi districts as well as to the Zafarobod district until the end of this year.

In Isfara, 150 families from the jamoats of Vorukh, Chorkuh, Chilgazi, and Kulkand will be moved to the Mohpari jamoat.

In Ghonchi, 78 families will be relocated inside the district and 80 other families will be moved to the Zafarobod district.
