DUSHANBE, July 6, 2009, Asia-Plus — President Emomali Rahmon met with Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin and Defense Minister Anatloy Serdyukov in Dushanbe Friday evening, according to presidential press service.
In the course of the talks, the sides discussed the process of preparation of the upcoming working visit of Russian president Dmitry Medvedev to Tajikistan as well as state and prospects of further expansion by bilateral trade-economy, energy and military-technical cooperation between Tajikistan.
Completion of construction of the Russian-built Sangtuda-1 hydroelectric power plant (HPP) was among major topics of the talks.
They also discussed the latest developments in Afghanistan and a number of international and regional issues being of mutual interest.
According to the Tajik MFA information department, the working visit of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to Tajikistan is scheduled for mid-August this year.
