DUSHANBE, July 7, 2009, Asia-Plus – Tajikistan has supplied some 130 million kWh of electrical power to neighboring Uzbekistan since mid-June, Nozir Yodgori, a spokesman for Barqi Tojik power holding, said in an interview with Asia-Plus Tuesday afternoon.
According to him, Tajikistan currently supplies some 6.5 million kWh of electricity to Uzbekistan per day. “Tajikistan should supply 450 million kWh of electricity to Uzbekistan in the summer-autumn season for exchange of the Uzbek electricity received over the past winter,” Yodgori said.
From February 27 through April this year, Uzbekistan delivered 248 million kWh of electricity to Tajikistan while it was supposed to supply some 300 million kWh of electricity to Tajikistan in the winter period. “Uzbekistan should supply the remaining 52 million KWh of electricity to Tajikistan in the autumn,” the spokesman said.
He added that Tajikistan’s power plants currently generate more than 57 million kWh of electricity per day.
