QURGHON TEPPA, July 27, Asia-Plus — 75 suicide cases have been registered in Khatlon province since the beginning of this year, which is 22 cases more than in the same period of last year, the Khatlon police directorate chief Shodibek Rajabov said.
According to him, in 42 cases, suicide have been committed by women, including six underage girls, and in 33 cases, suicide have been committed by men, including six underage boys.
The listed causes of suicide were various mental diseases (38), family problems (26 and economic problems (11), Rajabov said.
He noted that local authorities were taking efforts to prevent suicide in the province. “We organize meetings at enterprises, in jamoats and in public places,” Rajabov said, pointing to the necessity of assistance of the committee for family and women’s affairs, youth organizations, clerics, etc.
