DUSHANBE, August 15, 2009, Asia-Plus  — The second investment business forum with participation of representatives of Tajik and Chinese business communities is expected to take place in Dushanbe this year, according to the Tajik Embassy in Beijing.

Tajik Ambassador to China Rashid Olimov recently met in Beijing with senior representatives from the departments for Europe, external aid, and international economic cooperation at China’s Ministry of Commerce.

State and prospects of further expansion of bilateral trade and economic cooperation between Tajikistan and China was a major topic of the meeting.

The sides hailed the dynamic development of bilateral relations and discussed issues related to practical realization of agreements reached by Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and his Chinese counterpart, President Hu Jintao, on sidelines of the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg.  They also underlined the importance of keeping the reached level of trade and economic cooperation and seeking new opportunities to expand cooperation with emphasis on attraction of Chinese investments for development of Tajikistan’s economy.

During the meeting, both sides expressed interest in holding the second investment business forum with participation of representatives of Tajik and Chinese business communities in Dushanbe this year.  The first Chinese-Tajik investment business forum was held in Beijing on January 16, 2007.
