DUSHANBE, August 18, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Inflation for January-July this year stood at 3.1 percent, according to the State Committee for Statistics.

Over the report period, a monthly inflation rate in consumer’s sector has amounted to 0.4 percent.

The National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) expects inflation to stand at 9 percent this year.  Last year, inflation stood at 11.8 percent,

Prices of food products rose 1.9 percent in seven months to July 31, 2009.  Prices of nonfoods and paid services rendered to the population rose over the report period 3.5 and 8 percent respectively.

The cost of the set of food products included in the consumer basket for actual consumption (based on figures from households studied during 2008) in prices as of the end of July 2009 was 93.76 somoni per one family member per month, and with the norm for a balanced diet it was 181 somoni.
