KULOB, August 18, 2009, Asia-Plus  — In January-July 2009, the city of Kulob has produced a total of 24.2048 million somoni (TJS) worth of industrial goods, which is 3.667 million somoni fewer than in the same period of last year, Asia-Plus has learned from Mahsiddin Mousoyev, the head of the department for statistics within the Kulob mayor’s office.

“Over the report period, the city’s private sector has produced 10.826 million somoni of industrial goods, which is 2.286 million somoni more than in the same period of last year, while the large industrial enterprises have decreased production volumes by 1.381 million somoni over the same seven-month period,” said Mousoyev, “Moreover, some large industrial enterprises such as Marmariyon (solvent-extraction plant), carpet-weaving factory, and Khoja-Sartez (natural-gas refinery) were practically not in operation and local milk plant and firm Davron-K have failed to reach to last year’s results.”

Since the beginning of this year, the city of Kulob has produced 5,900 tons of wheat flour, 880 tons of bread and other bakery products, 300 tons of cooking (cotton) oil, 14 tons of sausages, 380 tons of meats mainly due to private enterprises.
