DUSHANBE, August 2009, Asia-Plus  — On Saturday August 2, representatives of the air carrier, Somon Air, handed over a consignment of textbooks, school uniform and footwear to the republican boarding school for orphaned children located in Kulob, Asia-Plus has learned from Timur Bandishoyev, a spokesman for Somon Air.

According to him, the donation made ahead of the school year was timed to coincide with the beginning of the Islamic holy months of Ramadan.

“The boarding school principal, Ms. Firouza Khojayeva, said that the aid is very timely because the school is experiencing shortages of some textbooks,” Bandishoyev said.

The republican boarding school for orphaned children has functioned in Kulob since 1999 and it is now house for more than 200 orphans and children from vulnerable families.
