KHUJAND, August 26, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Police officers seized more than 8.1 kilograms of heroin in Sughd’s Konibodom district on August 24, according to the Sughd police directorate.

“The 29-year-old resident of Khatlon’s Vose district Orifjon Sadonov was arrested in the village of Madaniyat, Konibodom district on suspicion of having been involved in drug pushing,” said the source, “Three packages of heroin were confiscated from him and another package of heroin belonging to Sadonov was extracted from the hide in the Konibodom central park.  A total weight of the seized heroin was 8.181 kilograms.”

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Sadonov under the provisions of Article 200, Part 4 (drug trafficking) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code and an investigation is under way.
