Cotton-harvesting campaign launched in some districts of northern Tajikistan

KHUJAND, September 5, 3009, Asia-Plus  — Farming units in some districts of the northern Sughd province have launched the cotton-harvesting campaign.

According to the Sughd agriculture directorate head Bobojon Domulloyev, the Konibodom district was the first to start the cotton-harvesting campaign and the farming unit named after Ashetmat Qodirov has reported cotton yields of 2.3 tons per hectare.

The Konibodom cotton farmers may yield some 11,000 tons of raw cotton this year, Domulloyev said.  The mass cotton-harvesting campaign will begin in Sughd on September 10.
