KULOB, September 5, 2009, Asia-Plus  — The 24-year resident of Kulob S.K. was detained on September 4 while he was illegally crossing from Afghanistan into Tajikistan in the territory of Khatlon’s Farkhor district.

Alfattoh Raziqov, the deputy Khatlon prosecutor in charge of the Kulob zone, told Asia-Plus on Saturday that according to the preliminary investigation, S.K. legally traveled to Afghanistan some three months ago having all necessary visa documents.

“However, he decided to return home illegally” for some reasons,” said the prosecutor, “But the most dangerous fact is that S.K. who is injecting drug user is HIV sufferers for already five years.”

According to Roziqov, S.K. is aware of his illness and he stated this in written form during the first questioning hoping for mercy.  “Moreover, he has a whole bunch of venereal and skin diseases, and therefore, he poses an evident danger to persons contacting him.  S.K. had refused point-blank to undergo medical treatment in due time.”
