KHUJAND, September 8, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Construction of three mini hydropower plants with capacity of 20 kW each has begun in Sughd’s Jabborrasulov district.

The power plants costing 60,000 to 70,000 somoni each are being built due to funds provided by local entrepreneurs.

According to the Jabborrasulov administration, these mini power plants are expected to be finished by the end of this autumn.  “They will be introduced into operation by the end of November this year,” the source said.

Three mini hydropower plants with a total capacity of 117 kW (75 kW, 27 kW and 15 kW respectively) currently operate in the district.
