KHUJAND, September 8, 2009, Asia-Plus  — An operation by officers from the Sughd counternarcotics directorate led to the arrest of four alleged members of the organized drug-trafficking group in Khujand on September 6.

According to the Sughd counternarcotics directorate, their officers found three packages containing 3 kilograms of heroin while searching a Mercedes-Benz belonging to the 43-year-old resident of Sughd’s Jabborrasulov district who is a self-employed taxi driver.  The found drugs belonged to his two passengers – the 36-year-old resident of Khatlon’s Vose district N., who is temporarily living in Khujand, and the 23-year-old Kyrgyz national A.

“Another package with 2.15 kilograms of heroin was found in the house of N. in Khujand,” the source said, noting that two other members of this group – both are nationals of Kyrgyzstan, the 35-year-old woman from Kyrgyz Osh region and the 49-year-old woman fro Kyrgyz Batken region – were detected.
