KHUJAND, September 18, 2009, Asia-Plus — The Imrouz (Today) radio station now may be picked up in northern Tajikistan as well.

The radio station has increased its listener base by expanding its broadcasting to the Sughd province on September 17.  In northern Tajikistan, Imrouz currently may be picked in the city of Khujand and partially in the city of Chkalovsk and the town of Ghafurov, the administrative center of the Bobojonghafurov district.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the Imrouz director Rustam Joni noted that the radio station broadcast only in Tajik running news bulletins each half an hour and playing Eastern music.

The independent radio station Imrouz was established two years ago and it has managed to win a broad audience in a short period.  Imrouz is part of Orienbonk’s media-holding group.  Among local it is known as a serious Tajik-language station.
