DUSHANBE, September 28, 2009, Asia-Plus  — On Saturday September 26, Sharif Said, the head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of Tajikistan, met here with Ms. Linda Jones, senior program officer of the Enterprise Development Unit (EDA) within the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF), according to the CCI press service.

In the course of the talks, the sides discussed issues related to establishment of cooperation in the field of development of the private sector in Tajikistan.

The CCI head noted that Tajikistan had good potentials for development of the private sector.  According to him, a favorable climate has been created in the country for attraction of investments and this process promotes sustainable development of entrepreneurship in Tajikistan.  Many local enterprises that are members of the CCI are currently successfully cooperating with foreign partners, participating in international exhibitions, business forum and seminars, the CCI head said.

Sharif Said noted that one of important steps towards improvement of the business climate in Tajikistan was introduction of “one-stop-shop” (OSS) principle in Tajikistan as well as adoption of the law on state registration of legal entities and individual entrepreneurs.  The implementation of the new registration system will give an additional impulse to economic reforms and development of business environment in Tajikistan, he said.

The sides also discussed issues of supporting development of mountain societies in Tajikistan.  They, in particular, discussed development of sectors like development and processing of precious and non-ferrous metals, production of juices and honeys, development of potato-growing and livestock sectors as well as transport infrastructure in the mountain areas, the press service said.
