DUSHANBE, October 1, 2009, Asia-Plus  — President Emomali Rahmon today extended congratulations to his Chinese counterpart, President Hu Jintao, on the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

According to presidential press service, President noted in his message that during the past sixty years, China has gone a long way in building a modern nation making a powerful breakthrough in development of main sectors of economy.

“All these outstanding achievements are the subject of heartiest admiration of friends and steady rise of prestige of China on international arena,” President Rahmon wrote in his message of congratulations.

Emomali Rahmon also noted that Tajikistan values its ties of friendship and neighborhood with China.  According to him, friendly relations between the two nations have developed more in recent years and joint projects that are successfully being implemented on the territory of Tajikistan are evidence of that.

The 60th anniversary of the founding of the People’ Republic of China takes places on October 1, 2009.  A military parade takes place at Tiananmen Square in Beijing on this occasion and various celebrations are scheduled all over the country.

The People”s Republic of China was founded on October 1, 1949. Since then, celebrations of varying scales occur on National Day each year.
