DUSHANBE, October 26, 2009, Asia-Plus  — The results of President Emomali Rahmon’s visit to Russia have lived up to our expectations, Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi told reporters in Dushanbe on October 26.

According to him, there are no any serious problems in relations between Tajikistan and the Russian Federation that could impede further expansion of cooperation between the two countries.

On the participation of Russia in implementation of the Roghun hydroelectricity project, Zarifi said that Russia was ready to participate in that project.  “An international consortium for completing the construction of the Roghun hydroelectric power plant (HPP) will be set up soon and any country may join it,” said the minister, “We just know that Russia intends to join the consortium.”

Zarifi also noted that an official letter on reasons for suspension of RTR-Planeta’s rebroadcast to Tajikistan had been handed over to the Russian side during Rahmon’s visit to Moscow.  “It is purely economic issue and I think it will be solved positively after negotiations between relevant bodies,” he said.
