DUSHANBE, October 30, 2009, Asia-Plus  — More than 357,000 apartments have been privatized in Tajikistan since the beginning of privatization in the country in the 1990s, according to the State Committee for Statistics.

Of them, 188,000 apartments were sold, 3,700 were turned over to the people with partial payment, and 65,000 were privatized free of charge.  A total space of the privatized apartments is 14.1 million square meters.

More than 2,300 apartments were privatized in Gorno Badakhshan, 37,400 apartments were privatized in Sughd province, more than 83,000 in Khatlon province, some 115,000 in Dushanbe, and some 20,000 in districts subordinate to the center (RRPs).   

Over the first nine months of this year, 2,550 apartments have been privatized throughout the country, including Gorno Badakhshan – 19, Sughd – 938, Khatlon – 853, Dushanbe – 410, and RRPs – 328.
