DUSHANBE, November 10, 2009, Asia-Plus  — State and prospects of further expansion of bilateral economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Japan were the focus of a meeting of the head of the State Committee for Investments and State-owned Property Management (GosKomInvest) Davlatali Saidov with Japanese Ambassador to Tajikistan Hiraoka Tsutomu that was held in Dushanbe at the end of last week.

During the meeting, it was noted that a number of economic projects, sponsored by the Government of Japan, were currently being implemented in Tajikistan, the GosKomInvest press service said.  However, there is still a good potential for further expansion of bilateral mutually beneficial economic cooperation between the two countries.

In the course of the talks, Saidov informed Japanese diplomat of the beginning of a tender process for development of the Bolshoi Konimansur silver deposit in northern Tajikistan.  Tajik official noted that Tajikistan was interested in Japanese business community’s participation in that tender, according to the press service.

Bolshoi Konimansur in Asht region is estimated to contain around 1 billion tons of ore and according to expert estimates, one ton of the deposit”s ore contained around 49 grams of silver, with 0.38 percent zinc and 0.49 percent lead.
