DUSHANBE, November 10, 2009, Asia-Plus  — An international two-day conference entitled “Renewable Energy in Central Asia: Creation of Economic Sustainability for Solution of Socioeconomic Problems” has opened in Dushanbe today.

According to the Association of the Power Engineering Specialists of Tajikistan (Association), the conference has brought together leading regional and international specialists as well as advisers to the governments, entrepreneurs dealing with practical application of the renewable energy resources and representatives of international organizations active in the region to consider issues related to use of renewable energy sources in the Central Asian region.

The conference participants are also exchanging views on regional approaches to general problems and seeking solution to the problems facing encouragement of the renewable energy development projects in the region as well as improvement of investment climate for attraction of donors and investors, the source at the Association said.   

The conference organizers include Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, American Chamber of Commerce in Tajikistan, Association of the Power Engineering Specialists of Tajikistan, and joint-stock company (JSC).  The conference will be held with support from the Government and Ministry of Energy and Industries of Tajikistan.
