DUSHANBE, November 12, 2009, Asia-Plus — Saravia (Saratov Airlines Joint Stock Company) has launched a twice-monthly service from Saratov (Russia) to the city of Khujand, the capital of the Tajik northern province of Sughd, Artyom Geyvandov, a spokesman for Saravia’s representative office in Khujand, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

According to him, this air route was launched at the end of last week.  “Saravia uses Yak-42 to operate the flight Saratov-Khujand-Saratov twice a month – on Saturdays,” the spokesman said.

The airline was formed from the Aeroflot Saratov division. It is owned by the State (51%) and by the airline employees (40%).  The Saravia fleet includes the following aircraft (at August 2006): 10 Yakovlev Yak-42.
