KHUJAND, November 13, 2009, Asia-Plus  — The number of draftees having higher education has doubled during the autumn conscription campaign compared to the spring conscription campaign, Azim Qosimov, the chief of the Sughd military registration and enlistment office, told Asia-Plus Thursday afternoon.

According to him, there were 90 draftees having higher education during the spring conscription campaign.  “Draftees having higher education serve only one year in the army,” Qosimov said, noting that the majority of them wants to serve in the army in order to get job in law enforcement agencies and power-wielding structures.

“There are 18 days remaining until the end of the autumn conscription campaign, while the last 30 draftees from Sughd will be sent to military units already the following Sunday,” the Sughd chief recruitment officer noted.

The autumn conscription campaign is carried out from October through November, and the draft affects able-bodied male citizens in the age bracket of 18 years old to 27 years old who are not members of the armed forces reserve.
